“Clever Nina”
“Clever Nina” is an ode to my
grandmother and her spirit chasing
spider jars….
When I was younger, my
grandmother had all sorts of
strange quirks… People used to
refer to her as “bruja” which
means witch in Spanish. She was
convinced that her house had
spirits and entities… as so was I.
I dreaded visiting her huge, old
house. Not only was it creepy, but
you never knew which corner you
would find one of her spider jars
in. She had a superstition that a
spider in a jar would scare away
the spirits and keep her safe. I
don’t know if it works or not, but
my subconscious has brought up
these spider jars once again here
in my “Clever Nina”.
